Support Licensure of IBCLCs in Florida
The Florida Lactation Consultant Association is working toward licensure to enable more mothers to have access to IBCLCs who need the help breastfeeding beyond that of hospital or peer support help. Presently, there is no reimbursement of lactation services by Medicaid or "grandfathered" healthcare plans. Medicaid services 52% of all mothers and babies in Florida which doesn't include those with "grandfathered" healthcare plans because they only reimburse to licensed providers. IBCLCs need to be licensed to help more mothers and babies!
We need 2500 signatures. PLEASE HELP us to help more mothers and babies!! Sign the petition at

Elevator Speech when talking to others:
Florida mothers and babies deserve to know who is the most qualified to help them with breastfeeding. IBCLCs are recognized by the U.S. Surgeon General’s office as the most qualified in the field of lactation. Licensing Florida’s IBCLCs saves Florida taxpayers, families, and businesses money because it helps to create new jobs, saves families from spending money because breastfed babies and their mothers are healthier, and employees who breastfeed have less missed days at work due to infant illness. Licensing IBCLCs allows for better access to care for all Florida mothers and babies and insures they receive accurate and safe breastfeeding advice from professionals who are screened and regulated.
THANK YOU for helping more mothers and babies to get the help needed to continue to breastfeed their baby as long as they desire.
